Peter's Vision of Clean and Unclean Food: A Sign of God's New Plan for Salvation
In this episode, we're going to be talking about a story from the book of Acts where Peter has a vision from God that leads him to go to the house of a Gentile named Cornelius. This was a significant moment in the early church because it showed that God was not just interested in saving Jews, but also Gentiles.
Three Important Points:
- Peter had a vision from God in which he saw a sheet filled with all kinds of animals, both clean and unclean according to Jewish law. God told Peter to kill and eat the animals, but Peter refused because they were unclean.
- God repeated the vision three times, and each time Peter refused to obey. Finally, God told Peter that he should not call anything unclean that God had made clean.
- Peter went to Cornelius's house and preached the gospel to him. While Peter was preaching, the Holy Spirit fell on Cornelius and his household. This was the first time that Gentiles had received the Holy Spirit.
This story is a reminder that God is not partial. He loves all people, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or nationality. If you're not a Christian, I encourage you to pray and ask God to reveal Himself to you. He is waiting to welcome you into His family.
